Bi-sphenol A, or BPA, has become quite something of a hot topic over the past few years with various groups raising concerns over whether or not BPA is potentially dangerous to human beings.

So, what exactly is BPA?

BPA is a chemical compound has typically been used in the production of plastics and various other food containers. In particular they are quite common in the production of plastic bottles along with being used in the metal lining in canned goods.

What are some of the concerns about BPA?

The issue that has arisen over the past few years has been the fact that BPA can often times seep into the food and liquid which they are holding which means that traces of this substance are creeping into people's diets. In large enough quantities BPA can have harmful effects on the body, especially young children. Such is the concern in the usage of BPA in certain products that the United States Food and Drug Administration banned the use of the substance in Infant Formula Packaging.
